Hey everyone! My minor outreach is over! I'm back at the Town
sville base, getting ready for 2 weeks of lectures! yippee :P
Once the 2 weeks of lectures are over I will be heading to Papua New Guinea for 6 weeks so please keep me in your prayers and pray that God would prepare my heart and also that the remaining finances I need would come through.
My last week of minor outreach was fun! Our base runs a youth group program on Saturdays from 2-10pm and so we took a majority of these kids down to the Gold Coast for a youth camp. It was an awesome time. I met a girl who I was in a cabin with who knows a family that I used to babysit for in New Zealand and are now living in Cairns. Her name is Caitlyn. We got along like peanut butter and jam :P. Her cousin Maddie, and friend Helena were also in my cabin and it was really fun just getting to know them really well. I had another girl in my cabin called Taylor from Mt Isa, and it was funny because she looked soo much like my cousin April, it was hilarious because everytime I looked at her I would see my cousin. That was cool though.
So anyway, 5DE was a combination of theme parks, night games, dance parties, surfing, watching millions of movies on bus rides to and from our campsite, and just building relationships with the kids.
We stayed at a campsite called Koonjewarre, and it reminded me so much of New Zealand because it was sooo cold. I didn't pack much warm stuff so I wore the same things every night and morning. It was still really nice though, and up in the mountains so the scenery on the way up was amazing!
I did have a tough week in sense of spiritually connecting with God. I found it hard to do with the amount of things going on. Please pray for me and keep me in your thoughts.
Good news is my friend Micah (who is my childhood friends) is coming to join staff this week. He arrives on Wednesday and I am very excited to see him as I haven't seen him in 3 years. It will be really good to just catch up with him and share with him what's been going on over here. Please pray for him too that his flights will go smoothly and that he wont have any travel worries.
I will write again at the end of this week.
Thanks for reading!
