Hey everyone!
Hope all your weeks have been fantastic. Mine certainly has. We had Dean Sherman, founder of YWAM Australia come and speak to us this week on Spiritual Warfare. It was such an amazing week and Dean taught us all so many things we had no idea about. It's really funny because Dean actually spoke on my parent's DTS through video about the same thing! We got to see him in real life which is apparently really rare. We felt really special because only the week before he came to speak to the 30 or so people on our base, he was speaking to a church of 13,000 in Indonesia! What a good guy!
I guess you could say he is pretty well known, but I had never heard of him except for through others on my DTS.
Anyway, so back to what I learnt....
So I found out Spiritual Warfare is 24/7.
Also..have you ever wondered why your non-Christian friends never understand you when you speak about your faith, and it doesn't really interest them?? It says in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light!
We need to pray and rebuke all the lies of the enemy, and pray that they can see the light, engage in spiritual warfare, before we even speak to them! I thought this was so cool. This can be before a phone call conversation, even chat, or when you take them out to coffee or something. This way, the enemy flees and God's light can come in!
Dean used a funny illustration, he said:
" Now, today at break I am going to give you all a box and you are going to take it into your closet, or dark room, open it, fill it with darkness, close it and then come out and we will all open ours together outside and see how dark it gets."
It was funny, because some of us didn't get it, but obviously, darkness cannot overcome light, it HAS to leave. So have faith in that when you pray for your friends!
Also, never say that you are weak, because Jesus died on the cross and now lives in you! How can you be weak, when the creator of the universe lives inside of you!
There were so many things I learned this week but I don't have time to write them all.
I may not be in contact for another 2 weeks. We start Mission Adventures on Sunday, which I have explained in my previous blog. We moved out of our house and are moving down the road to a Parish house for 5 weeks till we leave for Papua New Guinea, so its really nice. Finally we will have a living area and kitchen to hang out in :)
The kids arrive Sunday night and we will be busy all week training them and equipping them for the mission field. We leave on Friday for Mt. Isa, which is an 11 hour drive, so please pray for a safe trip. Here we will minister along with the kids from Mission Adventures to the Indigineous people in Mt. Isa, so that will be awesome. We go for 7 days and so I may be able to write again 2 Saturdays from now, but unsure right now. Please pray for my outreach, and also that I will be able to minister to the kids that are coming here next week.
Thanks for reading, will write again when I can.
Love Gia
